Although Istanbul is the more popular city in terms of economics, culture, and history, Ankara is the place where the Grand National Assembly of Turkey was established. The Ottoman Empire has just fallen then and they needed to choose a headquarters for the Turkish National Movement in the 1920s. Today, Ankara still offers the same feel and excitement like that of an Amsterdam holiday or Amsterdam city trip.
